DTN Fuel Buyer™ Expands Price Analysis Tools

Recent enhancements to DTN Fuel Buyer™ helps marketers make the most profitable fuel buying decisions. Featuring instant access to supplier price messaging from DTN DataConnect™, along with rack and spot price discovery; easy-to-use price analysis tools; important industry news, weather, and market information—in one convenient location—DTN Fuel Buyer speeds buyers’ reaction time to sudden changes in volatile markets, helping to maximize the profitability of every buy.

Volatile markets and multi-day price moves can cause fuel buyers to lose a lot of money if they don’t constantly re-evaluate buying strategies throughout the day. When prices change mid-day, DTN Fuel Buyer automatically updates contracts, special deals, and blend components. Including freight differentials helps buyers make smarter decisions which lower the cost of product, improve their ability to resell at an advantageous price and protect margins.

NEW PRICE ANALSIS TOOLS
New price analysis tools include contracts and special prices, blended products and potential freight costs to help buyers measure best buying opportunities. Users can now leverage enhanced analysis tools in DTN Fuel Buyer to add contract prices and special prices based on a differential off rack or index prices at multiple terminals. These special prices will update automatically with daily and intra-day price changes. Users can also create product blend recipes to automatically compare the posted products for pre-blended products to the cost of splash blends. Whether splashing ethanol, bio-diesel, or simply regular and premium to make mid-grade, the right answer is calculated and ranked automatically.

NEW FREIGHT DIFFERENTIALS
New freight differentials give buyers the ability to include all factors in their buying decisions.  User-defined calculations can include minimum gallons and freight surcharge zones for specific delivery locations. With this new best rack feature, users can now better evaluate the true best pull points for specific customer destinations.

NEW ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS
New enterprise level administration helps ensure all buyers in an organization have access to the same, comprehensive information. Administrators can maintain freight rate tables, special contacts and price rules, set outages, and blend recipes throughout the organization.

DTN Fuel Buyer features price alerts that notify users via their cell phones, PDA and e-mail.  Price alerts ensure quick action and proper response during volatile market conditions, even when buyers are away from the office.

DTN Fuel Buyer delivers a steady stream of headline news, market analysis and primary-sourced pricing information for the downstream refined fuels industry—from the refinery gate to the terminal.  Special attention is given to market-moving news such as refinery outages, pipeline problems or other supply distributions that can undermine profit margins. Energy-focused weather forecasts, histories, current conditions and climate predictions are prepared by DTN’s staff of highly-trained meteorologists. DTN Fuel Buyer features optional tick-by-tick NYMEX and IPE futures market feeds as well as the cleanest and most reliable spot prices available for all U.S. refined fuels spot markets. Interactive charts and pricing information are updated in real-time to help buyers accurately determine price direction and momentum.
